We have resumed reservations for the 2024 litters.
If you are interested, write to us at info@lebouvierbernois.ca.We choose the best subjects for breeding. We imported lines from Europe and the United States to improve the breed. However, it is difficult to know in if a puppy can reproduce. There are several steps to go through before being able to reproduce. The puppy chosen for breeding must have many elements. First, he must meet the standards of the breed. Secondly, he must demonstrate good character and be very sociable. And lastly he must pass his x-rays for the hips and for the elbows which are then analyzed by OFA. We only reproduce dogs that pass with mention FAIR-GOOD or EXCELLENT for the hips, none of our dogs are classified as mild or borderline dysplasia . We also perform eye tests (CERF), heart, Von Willerbrand test and DM test (all our dogs are tested for both mutations of this disease). If the puppy meets all these requirements, then and only then we can reproduce with this dog. As you can see, reproducing is not easy and our criteria for selection are very strict.
Each puppy sold leaves around the age of eight to nine weeks. It has a microchip, is registered at the CKC, he received his first vaccine, was dewormed at least 3 times and his dewclaws were cut at 2 days of age. We offer a two-year warranty against hip dysplasia as well as any congenital malformations or hereditary diseases. We follow up after the sale to make sure everything is fine. We are always willing to answer all your questions when you need them.
A behavioral evaluation is also done on each puppy. Our goal is to be able to give you the puppy that meets your expectations. Your puppy will be socialized to the maximum before leaving home. All puppies are born in the house and are handled several times a day. We put all our efforts in order to improve this wonderful breed that is the Bernese mountain dog. We can send your puppy by air if necessary. Several of our puppies have already gone to the U.S.A. and to the four corners of the Canada as well as in Europe. As we have already mentioned to you before all our dogs are x-rayed and certified at the OFA hips and elbows. Scores used here in Canada and United States are FAIR-GOOD or EXCELLENT. The equivalence of the letters A and B used in the most European countries equivalent to EXCELLENT AND GOOD for the letter A and the letter B is FAIR. Some countries have 0/0 which means no dysplasia. This gives you a small glimpse to be able to read and understand a pedigree.
